It is well known that warriors of the Great Plains adopted rigorous grooming practices. Alongside mirrors and paint bags, tweezers played a critical role in making Plains warriors look their best. Tweezers appear to have been particularly prevalent in the Southern Plains and Southwest, where men removed unwanted facial hair, including their eyebrows.

Consequently, Southern Plains tweezers are today celebrated for their ornateness. This particular tweezer set is accented with an unusual configuration of alternating brass springs and beads. These costly items would have been painstakingly traded for in order to create this elaborately decorated implement.
